DeLand, FL, August 24, 2011- Prince was announced as the successful bidder for the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Design-Build interchange replacement project on US 27 (SR 25) at SR 50 in Lake County, Florida. Prince and its design partner, Atkins, were one of three design-build teams shortlisted for this project.
The scope of the project includes: adding loop ramps in each quadrant of the interchange, reconstructing 1.0 miles of US 27 with the addition of two lanes, and widening SR 50 by two lanes for .7 miles. Prince will remove and reconstruct the US 27 Bridge over SR 50 and make various improvements to the project corridor during the 700-day, $20.8 million project.
The Prince-Atkins design-build team will be performing this project for District Five of the FDOT. This same Design-Build team is nearing the on-time completion of a 3.8-mile widening project on US 27 adjacent to the southern limits of the US 27/SR 50 interchange replacement project. The Prince-Atkins team was awarded that project in September of 2009 and will use their Design-Build experience to make this project equally as successful.
