The Florida Department of Transportation has shortlisted Prince for two of its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 Design-Build projects. Prince, teamed with Icon Consulting Group, was shortlisted by FDOT District 1 for the reconstruction of US 301 (SR 683) from Myrtle Ave. to Desoto Rd. in Sarasota. This project, with an estimated construction cost of $12.5 million, is adjacent to the conventionally bid US 301 (SR 683) project from Wood St. to Myrtle St. that District 1 awarded Prince last month. The other shortlisted Design-Build teams we will be competing against are lead by Cone & Graham and Ajax Paving Industries. Proposals will be submitted on September 15th and the FDOT plans to announce the successful team by the end of September.

Prince, as a member of a Joint Venture, has also been shortlisted by FDOT District 6 for the reconstruction of the SR-826 (Palmetto Expressway) / SR-836 (Dolphin Expressway) Interchange in Miami. Prince is part of a Joint Venture with FCC and Superior Construction that has formed to pursue this major opportunity. This is a Design-Build-Finance project with a maximum proposal price of $558 million. We will be competing with the two other shortlisted Joint Venture teams of Kiewit-PCL and Community Asphalt-Condotte-De Moya. Proposals for this project will be submitted on August 31st and the FDOT plans to announce its intended decision to award by September 7th.
“Pursuing Design-Build and Design-Build-Finance projects is a main component of Prince’s new business strategy to grow our organization,” says John Watson, President. “Being shortlisted by the FDOT for these projects is a major achievement which would not have been possible without the quality reputation that Prince has built through the years and without the hard work of our business development team.”
