Osceola County, FL, August 5, 2014 – Prince officially broke ground on the final phase of Poinciana Boulevard July 30th, with Osceola County District 1 Commissioner Mike Hartford, District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington, and County Manager Don Fisher in attendance. This $6.2 million, 304-day project will widen Poinciana Boulevard from two to four lanes, including 2.5 miles of new construction and re-milling and resurfacing of the existing lanes. Other work on the project consists of constructing three new stormwater retention ponds, a 123-foot single-span pedestrian bridge, and a gabion mattress abutment armoring system for one of the existing bridges over Shingle Creek. Polyester concrete overlay will be applied to the two existing roadway bridges–only the second time in Florida that this product has been used. Mike Reinke, Senior Project Engineer, will manage this project for Prince.
The groundbreaking ceremony was featured in the Osceola News Gazette and can be read here.
