JOB SUMMARY

The Take-Off Technician will assess plans and documents provided by the engineer used in major construction or civil engineering projects, such as highways, bridges, and flood-control projects. The Technician supports our Civil Engineers and Estimators in quantifying scopes provided in Grading Plans, Water/Sewer Utility Plans, Roadway Profiles and Cross Sections, and general Civil Engineering/Infrastructure projects.

 

Job Description

  • Supports estimators/engineers by preparing routine layouts, kmz overlays, haul charts, detail drawings and diagrams for heavy civil highway/bridge construction projects

 

  • Uses computer CAD files and software to quantify plans for estimators/engineers
  • Creates and modifies drawings, checking dimensions of plan, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the project. Assignments will also involve tasks associated with quantity computations and cost estimates under the supervision of estimator/engineer
  • Capable in assisting with Design Build designs from sketches or verbal instruction from estimators/engineers
  • Responsible for maintaining and organizing plan drawing filesJob Requirements
  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in computer drafting and design; and, preferably 2-3 years’ experience working in heavy civil highway/bridge construction business environment
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in Bentley Systems, Micro Stations, GEO Pak, Open Roads, Bluebeam and Agtek
  • Design experience preferred
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must possess excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Must possess a high degree of detail orientation
